Position: Ergonmics & Human Factors Engineer
Rate: £370 per day, indicative determination OUTSIDE IR35
Location: Birmingham
Duration: minimum 6 months - 24 months
Start date: ASAP
People Group have a new vacancy to support the Midlands Rail Hub programme with Engineering support, we are looking for a Ergonmics & Human Factors Engineer.
The role will be part time - working 2 days at the office in Birmingham.
The Midlands Rail Hub MRH project is necessary to (i) meet forecast passenger demand through central Birmingham and (ii) support economic growth by increasing connectivity between cities across the Midlands area.
This objective requires an additional ten trains-per-hour (tph) to central Birmingham from:
1. the South West Corridor including the lines (i) Birmingham to Hereford; and (ii) Birmingham to Cardiff via Bristol; and
2. the East Midlands Corridor including the lines (i) Birmingham to Lincoln via Derby and Nottingham; plus (ii) Birmingham to Leicester.
This will be achieved through a series of multi-disciplinary engineering interventions.
Purpose
Ergonomics and Human Factors - Assuring, accepting and assessing the engineering changes during design, install, interim and commissioning stages at sub-system and overall system levels from a human interaction, suitability and risk perspective. Human Factors should be embedded rather than bolt on and define requirements as well as solutions.

- A minimum of HNC in Engineering, although a Degree would be preferable (or equivalent)
- Experience with working in the Rail sector
