As part of a major growth initiative a non-corporate, cash rich and employee owned Engineering Consultancy is investing heavily in their rail systems engineering and delivery capability in the UK.
In the short term you will be supporting major capital rail projects in Australasia. In the medium to long term you will help build and sell the service in the UK as well as support additional major projects in North America. Projects will be varied and will cover Freight, Passenger main line, light rail and metro. Fess are generally in the tens of millions.
As part of a brand new team, you will help to shape how Human Factors support is provided and delivered within the organisation. You won’t be building from a completely blank sheet of paper, but don’t expect everything to be mapped out for you.
You will hold the main responsibility for providing Human Factors support on current and future projects and you will support the Systems Assurance Team Leads and Rail Group Managers in the preparation of tenders.
This is a hybrid position so you can work from home and the office. You will ideally be able to easily commute to either York or London as these will be the two ‘centres of excellence'. Other office locations are Guildford, Stockport, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, and Ellesmere Port
What do you need to be successful?
- Tertiary qualification in ergonomics or related discipline
- Membership of relevant professional IEA Federated Society e.g. HFESA
- Experience in the application of HF analysis techniques such as HRA, HTA in a transportation industry
- Appreciation of the System Safety Lifecycle and HF relationship to related systems assurance disciplines e.g. System Safety, Systems Engineering.
- Understanding of Risk Assessment and management
- Knowledge of appropriate national and international standards e.g. ISO 26800 etc
Salary would be around 60,000 to 65,000, although there could be some negotiation on this
