- Conduct ecological surveys and assessments in line with HS2 standards and guidelines.
- Monitor and report on ecological impacts related to civil engineering activities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and HS2 requirements.
- Provide expert advice on ecological issues to the project team.
- Implement mitigation strategies to protect local wildlife and habitats.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to integrate ecological considerations into project planning and execution.
- Proven experience as an Ecologist on civil engineering projects, preferably within the rail sector.
- Specific experience working on HS2 projects is essential.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under tight deadlines.
- Relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional membership or certification (e.g., CIEEM) is desirable.
