Principal Ecologist

£500 per day Outside of IR35

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Ecologist to play a key role in delivering the Green Corridor and ensuring No Net Loss of Biodiversity on a major infrastructure programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical assurance on ecological design and mitigation.
• Integrate ecological and landscape design within civil engineering works.
• Oversee habitat creation, enhancement, and species mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards, policy, and legislation.
• Lead problem solving and support project delivery teams.
• Engage with statutory bodies and guide ecology and design teams.

About You

• Significant experience in ecological design and delivery for large infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK ecological legislation and best practice.
• Degree in Ecology or related field; CIEEM member (or eligible).
• Skilled in project management and stakeholder engagement.
• Full UK driving licence; flexibility to travel.
