Production Controller in Chester, Cheshire, United Kingdom
Responsible for collating information regarding customer requirements, depot resources (people and materials), depot infrastructure and available downtime of T&RS so as to produce daily, short and medium-term plans for Chester Traincare Centre. Coordinate delivery of the real time train movements plan through the Shift Team Leader ensuring necessary changes brought about by operational needs are communicated to the Duty Production Manager. Ensure data quality of information entered onto the SAP IT system.
Responsibilities:
- To produce in conjunction with the Production Manager achievable plans to target key system/reliability issues, planned maintenance examinations and defect clearance on all customer vehicles.
- Ensure that plans are communicated to the Production Manager, Team Leaders and contractors on a daily basis to assist in the delivery of the plan.
- Communicate with customers to ensure accurate and real time information is available at all times ensuring that the Duty Production Manager is kept informed of customer requests at all times.
- Identify resource available by utilising the shift roster to identify when staff are on Annual leave, sickness, training courses.
- Ensure forecast shift deficits are addressed through Production Managers.
- Communicate with relevant contractors to ensure that specialist activities or services are supplied when required and that those trains are made available and on the correct infrastructure for the work to be carried out.
- Input into all relevant IT systems in order to maintain accurate records.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicles stopped for examination or repair.
- Produce relevant KPI's as directed by the Senior Production Manager.
- Monitor, amend, update and revise the plan during any given shift to ensure efficient workflow and use of available resource against down time is maximized.
- The Production Controller is the customer communication point for any enquiries, information updates or requests and additions to scheduled work supported by the Production Managers.
- Ensure that the plan is adhered to and runs in accordance with the time line, continues to be achievable and meets all of the customer requirements.
- Continuous communication with customers to ensure/confirm that the plan is running in real time and that there are no risks to the delivery of the service.
- Control the Visual Management Tool, showing key issues and information requirements/updates on a daily basis.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering field (preferred)
- IT Skills - Competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail, Internet.
- Good communication, report writing and organisational skills.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a Traincare Centre Maintenance environment
- Knowledge and understanding of Traincare Centre customers
- Knowledge of both the quality and safety systems
- Experience in planning railway operations or maintenance
- Good knowledge of railway operational environment
- Good knowledge of rail vehicle maintenance requirements.
