Project Engineer - Depots in London, London, United Kingdom
We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer (Depots) to work within the Depots Sub-Programme Team to manage the development and implementation of solutions for works completion and handover.
Although handover of existing assets will be the major role, role will also expand to involve supporting the Project Engineers in developing feasibility designs for a new building which will include requirements capture, review of documents and stakeholder and discipline engineering involvement.
The Key Accountabilities of the Project Engineer (Depots) will be as follows:
- Responsible for complete packages of work as part of the legacy close-out team, certification and handover of the assets to the Delivery Team and End Users, including:
- Leading the Engineering for snags and outstanding work items close-out.
- Ensure design and assurance documentation complies with applicable standards, specifications and procedures.
- Critically review and report on project engineering designs and commissioning plans and propose improvement where this is appropriate
- Ensure a system engineering approach is adopted
- Assess options considered within Feasibility Studies and recommend the solution to be taken forward into Concept Design
- Provide technical advice to project teams within area of expertise
- Produce Engineering, Assurance and Project Management documents
- Review, comment and approve Engineering, Assurance and Project Management documents
- Provide regular progress reports
The Skills, Knowledge and Experience expected of the Project Engineer (Depots) will be as follows:
- Ability to analyse complex data (drawings, calculations, schematics etc.), draw conclusions, produce reports and make recommendations to senior management
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and asset maintainers to deliver effective performance and solutions
- Degree level qualification in a related engineering discipline (BEng or MEng)
- Chartered Engineer Status or qualifications leading to Chartered Status is desirable together with membership of an appropriate professional institution
- Knowledge of LUL business, its obligations and priorities is desired
- Knowledge of Rolling Stock Maintenance Practices, Depot Plant and Equipment, Railway Infrastructure, Depot Building Infrastructure, Building Services and good industry practice
- Knowledge of risk management principles
- Knowledge of project lifecycle principles and processes, ideally Tfl Pathway
- Awareness of contractual arrangements that apply
- Wide experience in Project Engineering and project handover especially in the LU environment desirable
- Experience of requirements capture and design management desirable
- A background in depots, mechanical, premises, civil or track engineering
Experience of working in LU/Rail project Please note that due to this being a public sector project this contract cannot be set up with a limited company or PSC. The two options for payment are Umbrella or PAYE.
