Quantity Surveyor
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Provide commercial and contractual administration of installation subcontracts in support of the Subcontract Manager and Project
- Assist and support the preparation of monthly internal cost value reports to ensure project management are appraised of subcontractor financial progress
- Develop and issue subcontractor cash flow forecasts based on the agreed schedule of works
- Taking off from drawings and specifications
- Analysis and valuation of completed subcontractor work to ensure value for money is achieved along with valid commercial acceptance
- Identify and manage additional works, maintaining records and evaluating the value of such works
- Preparation of monthly applications for payment ensuring proper and timely payments to subcontractors in accordance with their subcontracts
- Attend meetings with Clients representatives, subcontractors and internal meetings
- Prepare and compile Subcontract Orders
- Manage subcontract works packages from commencement to Final Account
- Maintain and keep up to date commercial files on site
- Provide guidance support and training to assistants
- Providing advice on contractual claims
- Provide support to the site team on commercial and contractual issues
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations and the operation thereof on site
Knowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of London Underground/Rail Industry
- Experience of Building / Civil Engineering construction techniques
- Good knowledge of Methods of Measurement and valuation
- Good working knowledge of Standard form of contracts e.g. NEC 3 (Opations A &C)/ICE - particularly Target Cost
- Full understanding of periodic cost reporting and comparison with budgets and forecasts
- Experience of Subcontractor procurement from tender to award
- Commercial management of contracts and subcontracts
- Proficient in the use Word & Excel
- Experience of cost accounting systems and effective allocation of costs
- Good communication skills
- Ability to supervise train and develop staff
