Location: London
Job ID: 2025-1738
Position Type: Fixed-Term: Full-Time or Secondment
FTC Duration: 9 months
Post End Date: 11/12/2025
Overview
As Editorial Content Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Content Editorial Manager and the wider Content Editorial Team mainly to review but occasionally write and commission or develop content relevant to RSSB’s services, partnerships, and schemes. An ability to work with technical content is essential.
This position spans diverse content topics and formats, requiring a focus on delivering concise and highly accessible technical information in line with two key marketing principles: ‘less is more’ and ‘hyper-accessible content’. Other sorts of content production support may also be required occasionally. You will ensure structure, editing, formatting, and design meet high standards. Success in this role depends on effective collaboration with subject matter experts, senior stakeholders, and partners to produce clear, relevant, and user-friendly materials. The RSSB website is currently undergoing a comprehensive refresh, and new features to improve usability for our members are being added. This makes it an exciting time to be part of the Content Team. However, it also intensifies the need to maintain the excellence of our editorial work on our core products.
This is a permanent role based at the RSSB office in Fenchurch Avenue with hybrid working. In-office days will be based in the City of London, supported by a commuting travel subsidy benefit.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of written content for technical reports, Research in Briefs, and Track Records, each of which are produced by the many projects that RSSB delivers.
- Copyedit technical reports, Research in Brief documents, track records, and other materials, ensuring content is clear, consistent, cohesive, and readable while adhering to RSSB’s house style, branding, and editorial guidelines.
- Maintain effective communication with technical authors when copyediting materials.
- Proofread written material to ensure documents are ready to be published, providing the final quality check.
- Provide editorial support in the form of structural editing, copy editing, proofreading, formatting, and occasionally writing long-form content, so that the quality of outputs is in line with RSSB standards.
- Champion the adoption of customer-centric language in the editing of materials for external use, encouraging and mentoring technical authors to consider end-users in their content.
- Project manage content production and dissemination to deliver content within agreed deadlines and on budget.
- Stay up to date on language trends, grammar rules, and industry-specific terminology.
- Conceptualise, plan, and deliver inspiring and engaging content from across the business in suitably identified formats to ensure the information is accessible and consumable.
- Manage the production and distribution of content against changes in the industry and find better solutions for existing offerings through identifying new trends in content consumption.
- Develop an overall perspective on business requirements and priorities, wider implications and long-term impact, to identify how content can help solve challenges.
Qualifications
- Experience in copyediting and proofreading technical documentation, as well as attention to detail while working on tight deadlines.
- Experience of applying writing and editing skills in a similar role, with the ability to understand the purpose and usage of content based on user needs.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite and in using proofreading tools and software.
- A thorough understanding of publication processes, including commissioning, reviewing, and approving a variety of content types.
- Experience of improving content through various levels of editing, including:
- comprehensive editing: review content (for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate language) and form (for structure, organisation, visual design, and usability)
- copyediting: ensuring that the document is correct (spelling, punctuation, and grammar) and stylistically consistent
- proofreading: ability to identify text and formatting errors in the final document and apply final corrections pre-publication.
- Experience in content and knowledge curation with the ability to work on technically complex information.
- The ability to write engaging copy.
- Communicate effectively and share thoughts and ideas through methods appropriate to the audience.
- Adapt and respond effectively when embracing new opportunities, change, and in navigating uncertainty.
- Actively contribute as part of a team and work towards achieving team goals and outcomes.
