Position: Sustainability Specialist
Location: Reading
An excellent job opportunity for a Sustainability Specialist to work for a leading international consultancy and construction company that has delivered signature world class projects since 1990.
This will be working on a 10+ year programme to deliver a manufacturing capability including multiple projects and as the leading programme partner alongside design, equipment and construction partners.
The programme is in a highly secure site and will require successful candidates to work in live and strictly controlled environments that are operating at the highest levels of safety and security. Due to the Client security requirements, candidates must be a UK National and will need to progress through security clearance

Acting as key member in the ESHW (Environment, Health, Safety and Wellbeing) function, the Sustainability Specialist will support the Head of ESHW in delivering environmental expertise to the programme.

What will you be doing?
Acting as key member in the ESHW (Environment, Health, Safety and Wellbeing) function, the Sustainability Specialist will support the Head of ESHW in delivering environmental expertise to the programme.
- Evaluate and report on the impact the project is having on the environment and implement strategies to help minimise that impact. This includes analysing:
- Energy and water usage and resultant emissions
- Materials used and the waste produced, including pollutants
- Sustainable construction strategies
- The projects compliance with environmental legislation
- Keeping up to date with current environmental and sustainability research and legislation via specialist publications, attending conferences and training courses in relevant areas; and following relevant social media groups.
- Develop and manage the collation of KPIs and performance data to track improvements across our sustainability and social value initiatives and demonstrate our compliance to stakeholders.
- Assist in the advancement of projects in areas of particular importance to the project.
- Promote the projects sustainability and social value strategy and initiatives to ensure engagement and involvement from all.
- Support contract teams by being a focal point for environmental and sustainability queries as well as assisting with LEED and BREEAM Rating requirements.
Lets talk about you.
- You will have an experience working in a fast-moving project environment essential
- SQEP trained for nuclear engineering/design/PM roles essential
- Experience of nuclear or high secure sectors desirable
- Experience in a similar role with a strong sustainability background.
- Delivering BREEAM projects in the UK.
- Interpreting BREEAM related information from architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
- Degree in an Environmental or Building Sustainability or related field.
- BREEAM New Construction qualification.
- Experience/qualifications in other assessment methodologies such as LEED, Well and Fitwell are desirable but not essential.
