Location: Tonbridge, Kent (with site visits across Kent, Surrey, Sussex & Hampshire) Are you ready to keep the South's railway network moving safely into the future?

Join a groundbreaking rail renewals alliance that's transforming how we deliver vital infrastructure upgrades across the Southern region. As part of the innovative Southern Integrated Delivery (SID) programme – a multi-billion-pound, decade-long partnership revolutionising track, signalling, civils, electrification and more – we're looking for a passionate, proactive Health & Safety Advisor to champion safety on high-profile rail projects.

  • Drive compliance with robust safety management systems through hands-on site audits, inspections, and safety-critical assessments
  • Lead incident reporting, thorough investigations, and lessons-learned processes to prevent recurrence
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to site teams, contractors, and stakeholders on legislative requirements, risk controls, and best-practice safety standards
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments and support safe system of work planning for rail-specific operations
  • Champion a positive safety culture where everyone goes home safe – every single day

About you – the ideal candidate:

  • Hold the NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or ideally the NEBOSH Diploma) – this is essential
  • Bring solid experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in rail, construction, or heavy civil engineering environments
  • Preferably hold PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification – or be willing to obtain it
  • Be a confident communicator who thrives in fast-paced, outdoor site environments
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable travelling to sites across the South East
  • Bonus: Internal auditing experience or rail-specific safety qualifications

Why this role stands out:

  • Work on exciting, high-visibility rail renewal projects that shape the future of Southern rail travel
  • Be part of a forward-thinking, collaborative alliance model that's setting new industry standards
  • Enjoy a role where your expertise directly influences safety outcomes on live railway operations
  • Competitive salary + excellent benefits package + real opportunities for professional growth

If you're a safety professional who lives for proactive risk management, loves the buzz of rail sites, and wants to contribute to safer, more efficient railways – we want to hear from you!
