The Primavera P6 Software Administrator will serve as the technical owner and superuser for the P6 environment used by the HS2 Rail Systems Alliance.The role is responsible for P6 Software system configuration, data governance, and enterprise‑level planning controls across RSA P6 enterprise.
Key Accountabilities to fulfil the role
P6 Configuration Ownership (Superuser Level)
Maintain Primavera P6 enterprise structures, including EPS, OBS, calendars, resource hierarchies, project codes, and global data.
Enforce agreed minimum planning standards for all RSA users within the Alliance P6 database.
Administer user permissions, including user access control, profiles, and rights
Data Governance & Rail Systems Standards
Ensure consistent planning structures and standards are applied across all RSA programmes.
Govern the creation, maintenance, and control of enterprise data structures.
Maintain schedule coding frameworks aligned to engineering lifecycle stages.
Systems Integration & Dependencies
Support modelling of engineering interfaces across Track, OCS, M&E, HV Power, Signalling, and Communications.
Ensure Primavera P6 accurately reflects real world asset interfaces and commissioning logic.
User Support & Training
Provide expert system support to planners, engineers, PMO, and delivery teams.
Resolve system issues and coordinate with IT and vendor support as required
Deliver HS2 specific training and maintain clear, up to date user documentation.
Data Quality & Assurance for Reporting
Provide assurance of data extracts used for RSA PMO and programme reporting.
Conduct schedule integrity and quality audits to ensure minimum standards are met.
Continuous Improvement
Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Improve programme data quality and consistency through benchmarking and best practice.
Support automation and system integrations (e.g. Power BI and other tools).
System Ownership & Configuration Control
Acting as the technical owner of the Primavera P6 environment for Rail Systems.
Ensuring the integrity, stability, and performance of all P6 system configurations.
Maintaining strict configuration control across EPS, OBS, calendars, codes, global data, resource structures, and user roles.
Responsible for:
Implementing changes to enterprise data structures.
Protecting configuration baselines and preventing unauthorised modifications.
Ensuring P6 system settings align with Rail Systems Alliance governance and HS2 requirements
Data Governance & Quality Assurance
Accountable for:
Maintaining high‑quality, accurate, and consistent planning data across all Rail Systems disciplines (Track, OCS, M&E, HV Power, Signalling, Comms).
Ensuring compliance with HS2 schedule governance, coding structures, lifecycle stages, and reporting requirements.
Responsible for:
Conducting routine data audits, logic reviews, and integrity checks.
Ensuring planners follow data governance rules and correcting non‑compliant structures.
Supporting assurance activities, readiness reviews, and major programme gate requirements.
User Access, Permissions & Support
Accountable for:
Managing and safeguarding all P6 user access rights, profiles, and permissions.
Ensuring the system is used safely, securely, and in accordance with IT and programme policy.
Responsible for:
Providing superuser‑level technical support to planners, engineers, PMO, and delivery teams.
Troubleshooting issues and coordinating with IT/vendors to resolve system defects or outages.
Maintaining user documentation, training materials, and support guides.
Continuous Improvement & System Development
Accountable for:
Driving improvements in planning system performance, efficiency, maturity, and user capability across the alliance.
Responsible for:
Developing enhancements, automation opportunities, and integration solutions.
Recommending system/process improvements to the Head of Planning and governance boards.
Ensuring lessons learned are captured and applied to P6 system maintenance
Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
Accountable for:
Ensuring that all Rail Systems stakeholders understand and follow P6 governance, processes, and configuration rules.
Maintaining trusted relationships with Planning, PMO, IT, and Systems Integration plan.
Responsible for:
Providing clear guidance, training, and communication.
Addressing issues where disciplines fail to comply with standards, escalating when needed.
Facilitating consistent planning practices across all alliance partners.

Candidate description:
Essential:Experience as a Primavera P6 Administrator or Superuser (5 years plus).
Rail or multi‑disciplinary engineering experience.
An understanding of Rail Systems - Track, Overhead Catenary Systems, M&E, HV Power, Signalling, Operational Commutations and Engineering Management Systems /SCADA.
Experience with P6 enterprise configuration and multi‑programme portfolios.
Desirable:
Good Engineering based degree level qualification.
Experience within HS2 or major UK rail programmes.
Knowledge of systems engineering frameworks (e.g., V‑model etc.).
Experience with commissioning logic and rail readiness processes.
Strong understanding of Rail Systems in a highly complex environment
