Bridge/ Structures Design Expert - High-Speed Rail Project (Riga, Latvia)

Role: Bridge/ Structures Design Expert

Location: Riga, Latvia
Contract Type: Full-time
Start Date: Immediate/As Soon As Possible

Key Responsibilities:

• Design Oversight: Review and provide technical approval for bridge designs, ensuring alignment with project specifications, international standards, and safety requirements.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between the end client, contractors, and design consultants, facilitating seamless communication and effective problem-solving.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee and manage quality assurance processes for bridge designs and construction methodologies.
• Innovative Solutions: Propose sustainable and cost-effective design solutions tailored to the unique demands of high-speed rail infrastructure.
• Compliance Management: Ensure all designs comply with relevant EU and Latvian regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
• Project Reporting: Prepare and present detailed technical reports, progress updates, and design evaluations to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 15 years' experience in bridge design, with a strong portfolio of completed rail or high-speed rail projects.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in structural analysis and bridge design software (e.g., MIDAS, SAP2000, or similar).
• In-depth knowledge of Eurocodes and other international design standards.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of Latvian or another Baltic language is an asset.
• Certifications: European Professional engineering certification (e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent) preferred.

Salary

Salary would be between €8,000 & €9,000 per month (Gross) with additional allowances for accommodation, flights, insurance etc.
