Electrical Engineer - Traction Power Systems (Rail & Transit Sector)

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join a leading engineering team focused on the design, development, and integration of advanced rail traction power systems. This role offers the chance to contribute to projects that will enhance public transit and shape the community's future.

About the Role:
As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering complex engineering solutions related to rail electrification and traction power systems. You'll apply your expertise to the analysis, design, and coordination of systems including AC utility feeds, medium voltage distribution, traction substations, power rails, overhead contact systems (OCS), and automated control systems. Your work will directly support the seamless integration and performance of comprehensive rail transit infrastructure.

What You'll Do:

  • Execute advanced engineering tasks across traction electrification systems to ensure cost-effective, safe, and timely project delivery

  • Analyse technical drawings and documentation to extract essential engineering data

  • Prepare engineering calculations, material takeoffs, surveys, and design specifications suitable for procurement and construction

  • Review supplier drawings and conduct technical bid evaluations

  • Produce and issue detailed technical documents such as specifications and data sheets

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, designers, and drafters

  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, regulations, and standards, including the potential for signing off on professional documents

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and offer advisory input to management on engineering matters

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in rail, transit, or similar infrastructure projects

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) status is preferred or working towards certification

  • Proficient with engineering software and tools commonly used in the industry

  • Willing and able to travel or relocate as project needs require
