A Systems Assurance Manager is required for a globally recognised leading contractor in railway infrastructure services, offering cutting-edge expertise across the full lifecycle of rail projects. They re committed to delivering high-quality solutions that enhance public transport efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
We are currently seeking a highly experienced Systems Assurance Manager to join our team and support the successful delivery of a turnkey Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Edmonton, Canada. This is a critical leadership position reporting directly to the Project Director.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Systems Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
Systems Assurance and Safety Management:
Lead the development and implementation of the Systems Assurance Plan (SAP) and overall safety management strategies for the project.
Ensure that all systems, including signaling, power supply, telecom, rolling stock, and track work, meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
Develop risk assessments, hazard logs, and safety case documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Ensure adherence to RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) methodologies.
Design Review and Integration:
Oversee the review, verification, and validation of system designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and safety requirements.
Collaborate with design teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless system integration across all engineering disciplines (signaling, telecoms, power, track, etc.).
Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with key project stakeholders, including government authorities, safety regulators, contractors, and client representatives, to ensure alignment on system assurance and safety issues.
Represent in meetings with external partners, regulatory bodies, and client teams.
Testing and Commissioning Support:
Oversee the testing and commissioning phases to ensure all systems are verified and validated per project safety and performance standards.
Support the planning and execution of system integration tests, ensuring all safety and reliability goals are met.
Project Documentation and Reporting:
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on system safety, risk management, and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, project stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Compliance and Audits:
Ensure compliance with international standards such as IEC 61508, EN 50126/8/9, and local Canadian regulatory requirements.
Lead system audits, both internal and external, ensuring that all findings are addressed and closed out promptly.
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: 10+ years of experience in Systems Assurance, Safety Management, and RAMS within the rail or transportation infrastructure sectors.
Turnkey Project Management: Proven experience working on complex, large-scale turnkey rail projects (preferably LRT or Metro systems).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of rail system components such as signaling, telecoms, rolling stock, traction power, track work, and system integration.
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Standards and Regulations: Familiarity with international standards such as IEC 61508, EN 50126/50128/50129, and Canadian rail regulations.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage safety risks and performance issues proactively.
Certifications: RAMS or Systems Assurance certifications are highly desirable (e.g., IRSE, CEng).
