The market leading infrastructure recruitment specialist is supporting a leading Consultancy firm who are acting on behalf of the main contractor for a high speed passenger and freight line in Estonia and needing a Rail Structures Discipline Lead
Role & Responsibilities:
The Structures Discipline Lead will work closely with the Design Manager and the Structures Construction Works Manager to optimise the engineering and design solutions for both efficiency and sustainability. Balancing international best practices with local conditions, they will define the design criteria for the structures and develop value engineering solutions that can be implemented, integrating innovation, while minimising the environmental impact and life cycle costs. During the Implementation Phase, the Structures Discipline Lead will continue to collaborate with the wide project team to monitor the construction progress and interfaces, quickly addressing any design-related issues that arise. The Structures Discipline Lead shall:
-Comply with the Management System
-Operate in accordance with the Alliance's Basic Principles and in a diligent, professional and cost-effective manner through innovative solutions and efficient working practices
-Ensure that the quality of all work performed meets or exceeds the requirements of the design criteria and the
plans drawn up
-Meet or exceed the quality objectives, in particular
-Carry out the Tasks within the agreed time schedule
-Ensure that the Intellectual Property Rights of third parties are not infringed
-Deliver engineering solutions and report results to managers and clients
-Undertake structural design and analysis using design software across a broad range of structural types and
using various international standards
-Undertake peer reviews of technical work
-Monitor staff time and budgets against assignment programme and agree appropriate actions where necessary
-Assist in the management of the design process that may include other related design disciplines/teams
-Assist with coordinating design as part of an internal team and liaising with external associated professionals
and our clients
Requirements:
-Professionally qualified and Chartered (or equivalent) Structural Engineer
-Design Management experience - management of design work, defining design packages and goals and
scheduling in sync with the needs of construction work
-Competence in the construction and design of complex and environmentally demanding infrastructure projects
(railways, tunnels, bridges, ecoducts, viaducts etc.)
-expertise and competence in the implementation of
technically demanding infrastructure projects (including working in environmentally fragile conditions, e.g.
bogs)
-Competence in the construction and design of railway projects (high speed railway sub- and superstructure design and construction works, railway embankment design and construction work, railway bridge design and construction works)
-Extensive knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies and procedures
-Working knowledge of structural processes and design, with a particular emphasis on data interpretation, design & analysis, construction and advanced numerical modelling
-Experience of computer analysis of structures and design of structural elements in common materials i.e. steel, concrete, composite, fibre reinforced concrete and CFRP.
-Experience at Assignment Manager and Designer level with a proven record of managing and delivering assignments to programme and budget
-Experience predominantly in large scale (c.£100m+), high profile infrastructure projects, for a range of Clients in various construction market sectors
-People management experience e.g. general employee welfare, carrying our appraisals, training and development, involvement in resourcing and recruitment activities would be beneficial

The salary on offer for this position is flexible depending on years of experience but it will be an international, key expert package
