EWI is supporting a leading International Consultancy firm in their search for a skilled Geotechnical Expert to join a multidisciplinary engineering team based in Eastern Canada. This role will support a variety of infrastructure projects, particularly within the transit and transportation sectors. The position is ideal for someone seeking a collaborative environment and technical leadership responsibilities within a growing geotechnical group.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in geotechnical numerical analysis and support design efforts on infrastructure systems. You will work closely with structural, civil, and infrastructure specialists to develop effective, technically sound solutions. This position involves both analytical modeling and on-site data integration, contributing to design and delivery phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead numerical modeling and geotechnical analysis tasks
Plan and oversee field investigations related to data collection for analysis
Ensure engineering work aligns with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
Conduct geotechnical design analysis for major infrastructure developments
Prepare technical reports and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
Review drawings and specifications prepared by structural and civil teams
Evaluate soil and material properties for foundational strength and performance
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff in geotechnical modeling and analysis
Qualifications:
Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's)
Professional Engineer designation in Ontario (P.Eng.) is required
12+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical and civil engineering
Demonstrated background working on transit and large-scale infrastructure projects
Expertise in geotechnical design, excavation support systems, and underground works
Proficiency with engineering software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, or similar modeling tools
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team setting
Strong communication skills with a proactive and solution-driven mindset
