You’ll be trusted to deliver high-quality, compliant designs, working closely with electrical and wider engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions.Key Responsibilities:<ul>
<li>Produce detailed SISS/Telecoms designs from concept through to "Approved for Construction" (AFC) status.</li><li>Design a variety of station communication systems, including CCTV, Public Address (PA/VA), Customer Information Systems (CIS), and Help Points.</li><li>Utilise Bentley MicroStation to create and develop design drawings, schematics, and layout plans.</li><li>Coordinate with other disciplines, particularly electrical engineering, to ensure power requirements, cable routing, and containment are fully integrated.</li><li>Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and risk assessments.</li><li>Ensure all designs comply with relevant Network Rail standards and processes.</li></ul>
Essential Skills &amp; Experience:<ul>
<li>Proven experience as a SISS / Telecoms Design Engineer within the UK rail sector.</li><li>Essential proficiency with Bentley MicroStation is required. You must be able to produce designs using this software from day one.</li><li>In-depth design knowledge of core SISS technologies (CCTV, CIS, PA, Help Points).</li><li>A strong understanding of the GRIP lifecycle and Network Rail assurance processes.</li></ul>
Desirable Skills:<ul>
<li>Experience acting as a CRE (Contractor's Responsible Engineer) for Telecoms.</li><li>A broader understanding of operational communications systems.</li><li>Experience with data management systems such as ProjectWise.</li><li>Familiarity with associated electrical power systems for comms equipment.</li></ul>

RSSB are now recruiting for a Research Support Analyst to join a team of analysts in the Research directorate at RSSB. The Research directorate runs the research programme, generating new knowledge for the industry and supporting the dissemination and implementation of that knowledge. The principal responsibility of the analyst team is to assess ideas for new research projects. The analysts develop the project’s case for research, ensuring that the project will support the strategic needs of the rail industry and will represent good return on the investment. Following completion of projects, the analyst team is responsible for undertaking a review of the project, as well as facilitating the monitoring of industry implementation of the findings.
 
This is a permanent role based at our Offices in Fenchurch Avenue with hybrid working. The close date for this role is 25th January 2026. What you'll do: 
You will stay abreast of new research within the rail industry and beyond, critically assessing information to support the delivery against a broad scope of potential activities, which are expected to include:

<li>Developing research: Working with industry stakeholders and supported by RSSB Professional and Technical Leads, you will help scope new research projects to be carried out covering all aspects of the rail sector.</li>
<li>Establishing business cases: You will help investigate and describe the expected impact of new research on GB rail, and assess the value of it.</li>
<li>Providing research delivery support: You will be involved in monitoring and contributing to the delivery of a diverse range of research projects, ranging from engineering to rail operations.</li>

<li>Post Project Review (PPR) of project benefits: Working with the Professional Leads, other analysts, and the Director and Deputy Director of Research, you will deliver high quality PPRs ensuring sound logic and benefits analysis is taken and effectively communicated.</li>
<li>Implementation planning: You will support the RSSB Professional and Technical in identifying and realising industry take up of research findings research findings.</li>
<li>Knowledge searches: You will utilise analytical and business writing skills to answer questions from members of the rail industry through desk-based research, where you will need to collate information from public sources and generate insight to answer to pressing questions.</li>
